If Conservatives want to be guaranteed a victory in the
next couple of elections, they would need the Women’s, Black and
Hispanic voting blocks. Given those, it would be easy.
Getting those is also easy. Fix the public schools.
Fire the opening salvo in what will be a long, hard fight. Let
America know, business as usual don’t cut it anymore! It ‘s time to
dismantle the systems that, over 40 years, have proven to be failures.
Make the left try to defend the indefensible.
Start forcing votes on legislation to redirect our educational system to those that really care, local communities.
First, end forced busing. Put it to a vote. Ask the parents if they
wish to see their children continue to get up 3 hours early, to be bused
across town to and from some other neighborhood. Ask them if they think
busing has worked.
Second, remove all Federal involvement with the schools. Point out
the folly of the Department of Education, the utter failure to meet its
mandate, and the decline of Public Schools since its creation. It is a
waste of money.
Legislate that each school is a stand-alone entity, like a franchise.
If it can’t survive, or is running a deficit, declare it bankrupt,
dissolve all contracts and reorganize under a local school board.
Throw the unions out of any school with a failure or drop-out rate over 35%. Throw out any janitorial contracts.
Offer neighborhood schools to a locally chosen neighborhood school
board, monitored by a nationally recognized company of CPA’s. All monies
saved from eliminating the Dept. of Ed and its regulatory mandates,
forced busing, or insurance for it, plus getting rid of the inept,
corrupt unions, would be enough to hire a responsible company that
supplies teachers. Take competitive bids for the positions at the
schools from the new “teacher clearinghouses” that would spring up to
assist the unemployed, newly motivated teachers get back into the
business of teaching basic education, not political philosophies or self
esteem BS. College admissions administrators complain our high school
graduates are ignorant of basic skills…but they feel real good about
themselves! No more!
Contract with a, ” Teachers Clearinghouse,” for accredited, competent
teachers, who have to perform to maintain their jobs, not show up to
maintain their collective bargaining. This way, that teachers company is
responsible for benefits, pensions and retirement. Teachers hired
outside the “clearing house” structure must add costs of their
maintaining their own health care in their bid, we will not pay it.
All teachers must submit courses and classes on DVD before school year, and stick to predetermined course structure.
All students will have cds of the complete course, before school year
commences, so it can be referred to and studied at their own learning
rate.
Start breaking the monopoly the government has bestowed upon an
inefficient, uncaring union, and parents of all backgrounds will be
appreciative.
Parents are parents. Start showing real concern for their children’s welfare, and you will have their support.
EDITORS NOTE: In my opinion, the only education our government should
insist upon and require is however long it takes to learn to read and
comprehend proficiently, using our founding documents and early history
of this great nation as learning material; learn the value of money and
its accurate use in business; and the ability to write coherently, using
the early letters of our founders and General George Washington’s
missives on the greatness of America to teach expression and honesty.
With those skills, you can look up everything you ever want to learn,
start to make money doing it, and blog about your successes in
Capitalism, with or without guidance. Freedom is a responsibility. Teach
your children to read, don’t wait for the schools to ruin them. If you
read, they will.
